Nayan&Oliver – A Nepali Wedding in the hearth of Tuscany

April 27, 2026

A Nepali Wedding in the hearth of Tuscany

Nayan and Oliver got married at the end of July, on one of those bright hot Chianti days that feel almost too perfect to be real.
The venue was Antica Fattoria di Paterno and if you’ve ever been there …you already understand my excitement!
Set in the rolling hills of Chianti, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and endless views, Antica Fattoria di Paterno just takes your breath away

— THE PLANNING JOURNEY —

Their journey began almost two years prior the wedding day and it started-  before I came in –  choosing the venue as first step and I’ll be honest with you , that’s not usually how I work.
Today I don’t work on weddings where the venue is already booked, ’cause for me the process starts much earlier than that: It starts with understanding who the couple really is and from there everything else follows, including where they should get married, but Nayan&Oliver arrived way before this boundary was clear, even to me.

So we started from where they were, from Paterno
And we did the foundiation work anyway : the reflection, the analysis, the pillars of their project. I asked all the questions I would have asked at the beginning… just in a different order.

And something unexpected happened

Paterno, which they had chosen “simply” (catch the irony please) because it was beautiful – as it happens for so many couples starting their journey alone –  turned out, after all that work of creating their foundations, to be genuinely the right place for them: emotionally, logistically and in every way that matters.
It wasn’t just a pretty backdrop.
It was actually correct.

Good job!
I don’t always get to say that when a venue comes pre-decided.
This time, I could.

— WELCOME PARTY – TENUTA I MASSINI —
The celebrations started the evening before, with a welcome night at Tenuta I Massini

Pizza, wine, beer and guests arriving from different corners of the world: nothing complicated, just a genuinely easy way to bring people together before the big day (and what a Pizza my loves!)

Bring people together: that mattered the most to Nayan&Oliver

Nayan is from Nepal, Oliver from Germany and they live in New Zealand.
Their wedding carried a lot of different worlds inside of it: that first evening gave everyone a chance to find each other, mingle with each other without the pressure of the ceremony ahead.
People talked and laughed and simply enjoyed that evening harmony with a pizza slice in their hands

— WEDDING DAY – ANTICA FATTORIA DI PATERNO —
The ceremony took place on one of Paterno’s terraces, looking out over the hills. It followed Nepali traditions with a blessed Tibetan Buddhist elements and it was honestly the most affecting part of the day, held and officiated with calm and softness by Monk Lucia from Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa

The rituals, the music, the colours, the traditional Nepali outfits: everything carried meaning and I have learned with Nayan&Oliver that nothing in that type of ceremony is purely a decorative element: each piece of decors and flowers from red ribbons to feathers and saffron have a deep meaning.

After that, things shifted naturally moving to the glorious cocktail aperitivo… Italian style of course

The cocktail hour moved with the sondtrack of a live jazz and swing band from Fix the Music ; the food came – in enormous flows of btw-  people drifted between spaces inside the wonderful Paterno, from lush gardens full of roses and bloomings to panoramic terraces overlooking Tuscany in all its glory.
Everything felt easy and unhurried, which is exactly what you want after something that emotionally fullfilling as a Wedding ceremony don’t you?

Dinner was set up outside, in the “Piazzetta”  a small Italian square in the heart of Paterno: a magnificent romantic “al fresco” Italian dinner orchestrated and served smoothlesly  by Valerio Ricevimenti caterer.
Tables arranged in rounded shapes so people would linger, talk and move around.
The colours palette shifted too: from the softer tones of the ceremony into something a little more alive for the evening: violet, white, green. Still elegant, just with a bit more energy behind it and we thank deeply Silvia Mattera from Alchemy Bloom for all the extraordinary flowers

And then, as it always does, the day turned into a party (yeah)

The cake cutting of a delicious Millefoglie in a heart shape romantic and understated being Nayan&Oliver very reserved human beings, led into a generous desserts buffet, before the energy gently turned into celebration.
The party began with Nepali music—joyful, unexpected and full of identity—before opening into a more familiar Western dance floor.

With Betto DJ at the DJ booth and Pour Events at the incredible international Bar , the night came ALIVE!

— THE EXTRA DETAIL —

There was also a small but beautiful coincidence woven into the day.
Among the guests were two dear friends of the couple, who would marry just a few months later… with the same wedding planner
A shared journey, a shared trust and, we I’d like to add….  a very good choice indeed :)

This wedding was not just a celebration.
It was a melting pot of cultures, a reflection of identities and a reminder that when a project is built with intention, it doesn’t just look beautiful: It feels comfortable

THAT CHANGES everything for you and your wedding
